Brand Protect LLP has earned a reputation for successfully protecting the most valuable assets of a company: its intellectual property, in particular the brands and trade marks. Having had experience on the ‘client side’, the partners have a sound understanding of the needs of small to medium sized businesses as well as PLCs, and their advice is tailored accordingly and presented appropriately.
Brand Protect LLP is a niche and specialist law business offering trade mark advice and registration services to brand and intellectual property owners world-wide. It has grown considerably in recent years and as a result is seeking to recruit further. The firm has just moved into new offices in Ardley, Oxfordshire (close to junction 10 of the M40) in a beautiful part of Oxfordshire.

Trade Mark Attorney or IP Lawyer
You may be an ‘ITMA qualified by examination’ professional, a barrister who has completed pupilage at a specialist IP set or a solicitor who has worked in the IP department of a large firm and now wants a different challenge. Hours can be flexible and to suit personal needs; we measure output rather than ‘time in the office’. Salary will be competitive and related to experienceThe Post
- Requires in-depth knowledge of IP law, with specific and specialized trade mark knowledge including; wide-ranging experience of registering trade marks, dealing with oppositions, invalidity actions, litigation, contentious and non contentious work in IP, licensing M&A support work and the related legal issues world-wide.
- Requires a business focused approach to all activities.
The Person
- You are a competent and professional self-starter who needs minimum supervision but at the same time is a team player.
- You will be willing to help juniors and will be hungry for responsibility.
- You may have commercial experience
Fluency in a foreign language would be an advantage

Trade Mark Attorney Trainee
We seek graduates with a good honours degree (science, IT or language are especially welcome) who can demonstrate commercial awareness of the value of intellectual property and have excellent communication skills.Qualification as a Registered Trade Mark Attorney is expected after three to four years' training and examinations. Training is by partner supervision and by attendance at lectures, courses and tutorials at the Institute of Trade Mark Attorneys, BPP courses and elsewhere.
We will also consider high-calibre qualified staff from industry or other firms if they can demonstrate a track record of competence and success.

IP Paralegal / Trade Mark Assistant Trainee
This role is vital for supporting partners, associates and trainees on a wide range of non contentious and contentious IP matters. It offers a variety of tasks and exposure to a range of experiences which will enable the further development of career skills. The successful candidate will assist Brand Protect LLP in delivering the highest standards of service to clients.As an IP Paralegal / Trade Mark Assistant Trainee with Brand Protect LLP you will need to be organised, pro-active, self-motivated, efficient and flexible. Comfortable working independently, you will be able to exercise discretion and to remain composed under pressure. You will be able to use your excellent attention to detail and reliability to adapt to new work situations and challenges.
For the right person (who is keen and interested in the topic), we are prepared to offer training to become a Trade Mark Assistant and provide support for the ITMA examinations

The Post
- Document management is central to the role: document imaging, filing, scanning, review, database entry, maintenance and searching
- Preparing witness and trial bundles, arranging photocopying, copy checking, indexing, file preparation and database searching.
- Checking amendments, verifying cross-references, checking definitions, word for word proofreading
- Organising the translation of documents from or into English.
- Flexible hours and/ or part-time (not less than an average of 15 hours a week)
The Person
- Hold a degree in law, or in another area (ideally science, IT or language based) supported by a completed conversion course, or equivalent experience
- Legal practice course completion, overseas qualified or previous paralegal experience an advantage
- Competency with computer programs (Apple and PC)
- Knowledge of legal search engines, e.g. Westlaw etc
- An excellent communicator, confident liaising professionally and courteously with a wide range of people, both as colleagues and clients.
Office Manager/ Business Administrator
This role plays a vital part in growing the business as well as supporting partners, associates and trainees and offers exposure to a range of experiences which will enable further career development. The successful candidate will assist Brand Protect LLP in delivering the highest standards of service to clients. The post offers a unique opportunity to not only contribute to the business’s development strategy but also to be an integral part of its future growth plansThe right person for this position will need to be organised, pro-active, self-motivated, efficient and flexible. You will be able to exercise discretion, have a range of activities ‘on the go’ and be comfortable working independently.

The post
- Requires an enthusiastic person who is willing to be proactive and diligent in undertaking the non fee-earning tasks, e.g. ensuring bills and statements are sent out, developing systems to support the fee earners, plan marketing activities (small events, work with web and brochure designers, etc).
- Reporting to the Managing Partner, you will be working with senior management.
- Flexible hours and/ or part-time (not less than an average of 15 hours a week).
The person
- Comfortable and competent with computer technology.
- Prepared to take responsibility for running the office and to undertake a range of tasks, from filing to client facing activities, office management to liaising with suppliers.
- Have excellent ‘attention to detail’ skills.
- Keen to be part of a small team building a business and have a sense of how a small business operates and ‘works’.
- Be reliable and able to adapt to new work situations and challenges.
- You are a self-starter and able to work on own initiative (guidance is available).
- You will probably have a degree or equivalent qualifications/ experience have an entrepreneurial approach and a willingness to learn.
